Lineman as an occupation, began with the widespread use of the telegraph in the 1840s. Telegraph lines could be strung on trees, but wooden poles were quickly adopted as the method of choice. The term ‘lineman’ was used for those who set wooden poles and strung the wire. The term continued in use with the invention of the telephone in the 1870s and the beginnings of electrification in the 1890s. In all this time lineman glove design has remained virtually unchanged. Up until now. These are the first 3D ergonomic designed gloves. The first to be made with durable Buffalo leather.

The 398 lineman series is sewn in a forchette pattern. Like expensive and form fitting dress gloves. These gloves offer dexterity far and away greater than the traditional lineman guncut pattern.

These are the only Lineman Gloves on the market that are 3D ergonomically designed and constructed. Other gloves lay flat and fit flat. The 398 fits curved to your natural hand shape, you don’t have to work against the glove to grab something, as the glove is already in a natural pre-curved relaxed hand shape. It takes a very high level of pattern drafting and sewing skill, to make these gloves.

This level of sewing skill is also evidenced in the fine stitching. Our standard gloves are sewn with 7 to 8 stitches per inch. On the 398 series we are sewing at 12 stitched per inch. Combine this with super strong Kevlar® thread and you get near bullet proof seam strength.

Sewn across the back of the leather cuffs are 2” wide 3M flame retardant reflective striping. The same top of the line stuff used on fireman turnout gear.

Fully 3M Thinsulate™ lined. The back of hands are double weight 3M Thinsulate™ lined. This design maximizes warmth without taking away dexterity or touch sensitivity. An extra wide cuff design to fit over even the bulkiest winter parka cuffs. The Velcro closure system will then cinch up the gauntlet cuff to seal out drafts and snow.

Available unlined (#398BDLX) sizes S - 3XL.
